SEATTLE -- Seattle is a growing hub for philanthropy. It’s home to the Gates Foundation, PATH and many others. On Saturday, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center is hosting a free event to show kids and families how to fund raise for a cause.

"Family Day: Kids Can" is free to the public and will highlight the story of 9-year-old Rena Mateja Walker Burr of Seattle, who is the next generation of philanthropists. What started as a door-to-door campaign for spare change has led to Burr raising more than $15,000 for homeless families.

The event runs 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center at 440 5th Avenue North in Seattle.
