NEW YORK – Seattle-based Starbucks is reportedly being sued by a customer who said he was burned after being served tea that was "unreasonably hot."
Reuters reports the plaintiff, Zeynep Inanli, suffered second-degree burns when he was served tea that was "unreasonably hot, in containers which were not safe," at a Starbucks store in Manhattan.
In the complaint, Inanli alleges he suffered "great physical pain and mental anguish." He is seeking unspecified damages.
There was no immediate comment from Starbucks.
Lawsuits like this one are not uncommon. In 1994, a New Mexico woman sued McDonalds for nearly $3 million because she says she scalded herself with the restaurant's coffee. Both sides later settled.
