Does the news of Hostess Brands's liquidation mean the loss of some of America's favorite childhood treats?

Seattle's Cupcake Royale is showing that the end of Hostess doesn't mean an end to at least two of the company's sugary treats. The seven-store chain is paying homage by offering its versions of Hostess CupCakes and Sno Balls for $3.75 each.

“We couldn’t let the end of an era simply end without a proper tribute,” said Cupcake Royale owner Jody Hall. “Hostess was an integral part of creating a national passion for cupcakes, and our love of the cupcake and we owe a lot to them. Our fascination with the little white swirl and the crème-filled center will be embedded in our childhood memories.”

Visit any of the six Seattle locations or the one in Bellevue Friday through Sunday to pick up one of the sweets.

In an annoucement on the company's Facebook page, Cupcake Royale described the treats:

"The CupCake, you got it, is a Cupcake Royale chocolate cake with a marshmallow fluff filling, topped with chocolate frosting and decorated with a signature white piping that we all love.

The Snowball is a chocolate cake filled with the same delectable marshmallow fluff, surrounded by a delicate shower of coconut."

Sadly, the Cupcake Royale versions only have a 24-hour shelf life, as opposed to the 24 years of some of the Hostess originals. In a release, the company apologized in advance for the oversight.
