Alaska Airlines to be jersey sponsor for MLS' Portland Timbers

PORTLAND – The logo of Seattle-based Alaska Airlines will be featured on the jersey of Portland's new MLS team when the Timbers debut next March.

Alaska Airlines will be the team's official airline sponsor in a multi-year deal. It's the first airline jersey sponsor in the 15 year history of the MLS.

As part of the deal, the Timbers say Alaska Airlines will support the Portland Timbers Community Fund, which focuses on youth fitness and educational initiatives. Alaska will also donate 25 game-day tickets to underprivileged children in the Portland area for each home game.

The Timbers uniforms with the Alaska Airlines logo will be unveiled in December.
