ST. LOUIS (AP) — The nation's largest pharmacy benefits manager is getting bigger.

Express Scripts officials on Thursday confirmed that the company plans to add 1,500 jobs over the next five years as part of a $56 million expansion of its headquarters near the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

The deal is contingent upon approval of St. Louis County and state tax incentives.

A statement from the Missouri Department of Economic Development says the state is working with Express Scripts to identify applicable economic incentives. A county spokeswoman says the county council will consider incentives on Tuesday.

It was the third big business expansion announced in the St. Louis region in two months. Monsanto said in April it is adding 675 jobs, and Gov. Jay Nixon announced last week that Boeing is adding 400 jobs.
