Darrington woman killed trying to save child in DUI crash

ARLINGTON, Wash. -- A 46-year-old woman was killed Saturday night after being struck by a car in Arlington Saturday night.

The woman, Trina Morgan, exited her vehicle to help a 9-year-old girl who was involved in a crash traveling on State Route 530 near Arlington.

According to Washington State Patrol, while assisting the young girl, Morgan was hit by a separate vehicle and pronounced dead on scene. 

The 37-year-old driver of the initial accident was processed for DUI and has since been released. The relationship between the young girl and the driver is unknown. 

The young girl was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
