CALHAN, Colo. (AP) — It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's a blimp that was seen hovering over Calhan in eastern Colorado.
Witnesses say they were baffled when they saw a blimp the size of a truck on the Eastern Plains near Colorado Springs, surrounded by about 30 vehicles.
According to KKTV-TV (http://tinyurl.com/cwqnba9 ), an unidentified local company said the helium balloon is being tested for use as part of a surveillance system.
The owner tells the station they are developing the aircraft for government agencies and large corporations who need a surveillance system to cover and keep large areas secure.
