MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota has a new commander.

Col. Alexis Mezynski on Monday was installed as commander of the base's 5th Bomb Wing and of the overall base, which also has a nuclear missile mission. He came from Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, where he had been vice commander of the 2nd Bomb Wing.

Mezynski takes over for Col. James Dawkins Jr., who has taken a position with the National Nuclear Security Administration at the federal Energy Department in Washington, D.C.
