One of the most remarkable features of Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner are the electronic dimmable windows. No more window shades. Instead, you press a button to decide how much light comes in.
For the 787’s first customer, All Nippon Airways, the windows don’t go dark enough.
Reuters reports ANA is asking Boeing to come up with a way to make the plane’s cabin darker because the dimmable windows are not dark enough for long flights. ANA wants to install the classic pull-down blinds on two of the already delivered 787s, which are used on long-haul flights, so passengers can sleep better.
Boeing reportedly has not said whether it will meet ANA’s request or if any other customers have made similar requests.
