SEATTLE -- A woman was stabbed by another woman on board a King County Metro bus in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

The bus driver chased after the suspect after he stopped the bus near 3rd Avenue and Steward Street around 2:45 p.m.

"He chased her all the way down to the next corner," said one witness.

The suspect was taken into custody by Seattle Police as soon as officers arrived on the scene.

Police said the victim called 911 from the bus to report she was injured. She was reportedly stabbed with something like a screwdriver or ice pick.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center where she is listed in stable condition.

It is unclear what exactly transpired on the bus, but witnesses said they saw the victim approach the suspect prior to the incident because she looked distraught.

Every one is entitiled to ride transit. That someone decided to stab another on metro transit is Metro's problem. The solution lies in a program called good ridership. Your good ridership status is one you are responsible for. If you have grievances against your ridership status, you are 86'd from riding! If you commit a crime while riding, that is immediate termination of ever getting on a bus!

"Steward" (sic) street is one block south Virginia Street, which is the southern boundary for Belltown and part of zip code 98121. 3rd and Stewart is downtown, zip 98122.
