PUYALLUP, Wash. – A woman was killed after being hit by an Amtrak train early Thursday morning.
It happened at about 2 a.m. near 26th Street NW and West Stewart Avenue.
No passengers were on board the train and no crew members were hurt. Service is back to normal.
It's not immediately clear whether this was a suicide.
A spokesman with Burlington Northern Santa Fe, which owns the tracks, says this is the 16th death involving a trespasser on their tracks this year. That's in addition to three deaths at railroad crossings.
