SEATTLE - What started as a chaotic scene in White Center Tuesday, ended at a motel.

Deputies got a tip that led them to a motel where they found suspects, a possible getaway car and stolen merchandise.

King County deputies arrested two suspects who were confronted by a pickup owner in White Center Tuesday morning.

"I look in the back of the truck again and there's some guy in the back, I pull out my machete, get ready to whack him in the head. He takes off running. I yell for my wife to grab her pistol and we chase the guy down," said Andy McKenzie.

He said his wife stayed with the suspect while he went back to lock his house and pursue another suspect who had a rifle and got away.

McKenzie says the suspect he caught confessed to burglarizing homes in the area.

Deputies say they recovered a pickup truck carrying stolen items.

auburngirl - I'm glad that you don't live in White Center. You would end up DEAD while waiting for the police to show up. If burglars show up at my house there will be new headlines "Two armed burglars shot dead by homeowner with a 357 Magnum"

Not quite sure why these kinds of stories always draw you anti gov anti cop people. The fact is we need police officers and we need government in order to be a civilized sociaty. While it is true that curruption exists within these institutions law and government, I wouldn't want to live anywhere they do not exist. It is not a crime to protect ones property within reasonable means with a registered firearm or by other means. However it is not wise to chase someone beyond your property to apprehend them without the support of the police for obvious reasons. To think that the police can arrive at every call within mins is a fantasy (again for obvious reasons). If you do not like the way your elected officials do their jobs write them letters and vote for someone eles. Or better yet try running for a position of responsibility yourself. Please stop the anti police garbage you sound like a bunch of backwoods, ignorant, inbred, jugheads sitting around the still.

i agree with all so far. but wanted to add, apparently Andy didnt get the memo. He was suppose to whine and cry and stomp his feet demanding Gov't do somethin about burglars. and then GRegoire introducing new taxes to help combat burglars, even tho we are taxed out of half our pay already. When Seconds Count, the Cops are Minutes away. And yes, it is pathetically sad that if Andy did act, ANDY would go to jail, and the cops wonder why there is such an anti-cop wave goin around. not that cops are bad, just the lunatic laws cops have/decide to enforce.

Once again, the blue gun thugs show up to parade for cameras long after the citizens have protected themselves. The blue shirts do not protect you. That is not their job (SCOTUS) Good going White City man.

The really sad part is that if Andy whacked the thief he would have violated his rights. The victim of the crime has no rights but the perp has rights for everything. Could have given the punk some Islamic justice though, chop off an arm for burglary and the thief has quite a bit harder time doing it again.
