SEATTLE -- Mechanical problems are putting a snag in the morning commute for people who rely on the West Seattle Water Taxi.
Boat service has been canceled for the "Rachel Marie" water taxi while crews work on the mechanical problems discovered on the boat Monday night. According to the West Seattle Blog, engine trouble might have prompted the cancellation of evening trips Monday. Shortly after 9 p.m., King County put out the alert that Tuesday morning service was canceled too.
Officials do not know when water taxi service will resume.
County officials recommend alternatives like Metro Bus Route 37, which takes passengers between West Seattle and downtown Seattle during peak commute times. The route makes a stop at Seacrest Park, the same place where commuters catch the water taxi.
