The Washington State University Board of Regents passed a resolution Friday to rename a building at the Edward R. Murrow College of Communications after late KOMO-TV anchor Kathi Goertzen.

The building will be rededicated as the Kathi Goertzen Communications Addition. It houses the dean's suite, faculty offices and various teaching and research labs.

Goertzen, a 1980 Murrow College graduate, remained deeply tied to WSU during her life. She died last August after a 14-year battle with brain tumors.

WSU said the building will ultimately include a working digital lab and television studio, along with an interactive Hall of Excellence where the work of many Murrow alumni will be displayed.
