Two drivers were critically injured Monday afternoon in an accident on SR 305 on Bainbridge Island.

Officials say at 2pm Bainbridge Fire got called to the accident at the Agate Pass Bridge. When they arrived they found two cars had collided and both drivers were trapped.

The drivers suffered critical injuries and were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

There were no other passengers and no one else was hurt.

Police estimated that the bridge would open by 6 p.m. It was closed because there was no alternate route. Ferry traffic was also impacted because of the closure.
