The Tacoma Fire Department is investigating two car fires as suspected arson. The fires occurred around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The cars were parked in the 6700 block of Tacoma Avenue just four houses apart.
At one house Jess Bonner had just returned home from work and spotted the fire from the kitchen. He broke a window and used a hose to put the fire out. Bonner also tried to help the neighbor put out the fire in their car.
One of the cars belongs to a family who used it to get their mom back and forth from cancer treatment. Terra Bonner had just gotten her driver's license again so she could get to treatment.
"That's really low, who ever did this, you know what I mean," Jess Bonner said. "I'm thinking it's some punk kids. I hope they're caught."
The fires are under investigation. No suspect description has been released.
