OLYMPIA, Wash.—They look alike, sound alike and want the same jobs.
Voters elected John Snaza Sheriff of Thurston County in 2010.
His identical twin, Rob Snaza, wants to be sheriff in Lewis County.
They both will be on the ballot in the neighboring counties in 2014.
Rob Snaza, who is currently a sergeant for the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, said he has learned a few things from his brother’s three years in office.
”He says he wants to do all these things and I remind him it’s not that easy,” said John Snaza.
The brothers grew up in Rochester and worked for a number of small police agencies early in their law enforcement careers, in some cases, in neighboring towns.
”John was stopping cars one day and I was stopping the same people the next day,” said Rob Snaza.
The brothers hope an abundance of “Snaza for Sheriff” signs across the two counties will help both candidates with name recognition.
Lewis County’s current sheriff, Steve Mansfield, has not announced if he will seek re-election in 2014.
He chose not to comment on Rob Snaza’s aspirations.
