SEATTLE -- Owners of a popular pet grooming business in Green Lake are cleaning up after a truck smashed into their building early Wednesday.
Petdaddy caters mostly to dogs, but lots of animals come to the business to get cleaned up. Now on the verge of its five year anniversary, the store is destroyed.
Around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, police say a truck was trying to turn into Latona Street when it slammed into Petdaddy's building.
The front end of the truck was smashed and crumpled in and the driver was taken to a hospital. No word on the driver's injuries.
The news came as quite a blow to the owners.
"I've dealt a lot with my life, but this is pretty emotional, pretty rough because I built this with my own hands and my own time and money," said Barbara Rivera, Petdaddy co-owner. "It's a little bit rough, but I'll get through it."
Police have not released any information and are investigating whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash.
Petdaddy provides grooming for pets, both professional and do-it-yourself facilities, and sells organic dog food. The business employes five other people; now all are out of work. The owners hope to have repairs completed and the store re-opened within the next two weeks.
