Firefighters responded to a large propane leak that occured Monday morning in Tacoma.

The Tacoma Fire Department said that a propane truck was transferring propane to another truck when the line broke. The tank held approximately 2,200 gallons of propane.

A mechanical failure of a fill hose-line may have caused the leak.

Nearby homes were evacuated and there were no injuries. Firefighters were able to secure the scene.
