The 128th Street overpass in Everett was damaged Saturday morning when a truck pulling a trailer carrying a medium sized excavator hit it.
The Washington State Patrol said it appeared that the truck struck the last cross beam of the overpass. Concrete debris covered two lanes of the freeway but was quickly removed by troopers.
The State Patrol determined that the excavator was above the legal height limit.
One passenger car ran over some of the concrete debris, causing a flat tire but was not hurt.
Troopers say the 42-year-old truck driver had just purchased the mid 90’s used excavator and was transporting it to Rainier, Wash. He was not hurt.
The right lane of southbound I-5 was blocked so DOT Bridge Crews could survey the damage.
