OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Garbage pickups and gravel deliveries in parts of Thurston County won't happen until at least next week, unless the weather warms up quickly.

The county put emergency road restrictions into effect Thursday morning.

A county spokesperson said when the ground beneath the roads are partially frozen, heavy trucks are more likely to cause costly damage that could cause taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Details of the closure can be found on Thurston County's website.

Similar restrictions are in place in Mason and Grays Harbor Counties.
