SEATTLE - The quick run up in gas prices is hitting everyone hard, including small businesses.

It isn't just companies that make deliveries or use a lot of gas directly that are affected. The cost of products are going up because the cost of transporting them to the business is up as well.

Business owners, like the ones at Pagliacci Pizza in Seattle, are feeling the pinch in ingredients.

"The cost of flour and cheese has gone up a great deal, especially in the past six to nine months," said co-owner Matt Galvin. "We've had to raise our prices about 10 cents on a slice of pizza, but it was something we needed to do."

The truck drivers who haul the ingredients are pumping diesel at around $4.02 per gallon in Seattle.

"There's nothing we can do about it!" says Kevin Whiteside. "The more it costs us, the more you're shirts, jackets, toilet tissue will cost. Everything goes up."

@maynard, no, us socialists remember! Who predicted lower energy prices? Mc Cain? Of course energy prices go up when the gulf countries are in turmoil....and "obonzo" did that? I think you need to buy a 'prius' and insulate your trailer.
