SEATTLE -- Tacoma fire officials are investigating a fire that engulfed a family's home early Friday.
The fire started just before 2 a.m. in the 1000 block of South 86th Street.
Five people - four adults and a 2-year-old - made it out of the house and no one was hurt.
"That's a terrible loss. I am sorry for them, but what can you do," said John Schneble, neighbor. "It is kind of one of those things I guess. I am just glad they are all alright."
Tacoma's fire chief said it appeared the fire started in the carport and spread to the rest of the house.
Investigators with the Tacoma Fire Department and Tacoma police are determining what caused the fire.
Meanwhile, the Red Cross is putting the family up in a hotel while the family figures out what to do next.
