SEATTLE (AP) — The National Weather Service says cool air following the front that blew through the Northwest will bring weekend snow to the Olympics, Cascades and northeast mountains in Washington.

A winter storm watch is in effect through Saturday for the Cascades with up to 2 feet of new snow forecast.

Lightning, thunder and high winds rattled the Seattle area during the Thursday night storm.

The Shoreline Fire Department says a 40-year-old man walking his dog with his wife in Hamlin Park was killed when he was hit by a falling tree.

Seattle City Light reported power outages for about 8,000 customers and Tacoma Power, about 6,000.

Forecasters says cool, showery weather is likely to continue into next week across the state.

Snow ? why on earth would you want snow ? last year i was stuck at home for 10 days.. i spent 4 hours going to Safeway and back...waiting on the dang bus... theres something really wierd about people who like snow..especially in the city ... which is why the state has made the SNOW PARK up on the passes.. go up there and play in 200 feet of snow.. its hard enough getting around Seattle in the rain.. let alone the snow.. ! Snow people are nuts ! I hate snow .. i have always hated snow and i will hate snow till the day i die. !
