A Stanwood Middle School teacher is being held on $1 million bond in connection with the death of his wife.

The Everett Herald reports the 49-year-old was being held on investigation of second-degree murder.

Police were reportedly called to the couple’s Mount Vernon home Monday morning where the woman died. The husband allegedly told police his wife fell down the stairs, but detectives say that’s not consistent with what they have learned.

KING 5 News is not naming the suspect because he has not officially been charged.

Anyone with information about the death is asked to call police at 360-336-6271 or 360-428-3211.
