Seattle Police say a man armed with an axe and a handgun demanded money from his father before ending up in a standoff with officers at his grandparents’ home.
The standoff happened before dawn at the grandparents’ home at 56th Avenue near S. Bangor Street.
Police said the 27-year-old man went to his parents’ home a few blocks away and started hitting the door with an axe. He went inside, showed his father a handgun and demanded money.
Police said the pair went driving around looking for money before the son was dropped off at his grandparents’ home.
Officers and a hostage negotiator arrived a short time later and the man was arrested peacefully.
Police say they don’t believe the grandparents were ever threatened.
