SEATTLE - If you are a fan of grunge, the place to be Friday night was the Showbox Theatre in Seattle. That's where fans got to see the long-awaited reunion of Soundgarden on stage.

At Soundgarden's request, the Showbox was very tight-lipped about tonight's performance. No cameras, and no word on how many tickets were released. Even the theatre's marquis was an anagram that says "Nudedragons Sold Out."

"This is a big reunion, something the lead singer Chris said would never happen," said fan Jay Lusk of Seattle.

That's Chris Cornell he's talking about, frontman for Soundgarden. One of the legendary bands of Seattle's grunge scene. And tonight at the Showbox Theatre, they were reunited for the first performance in more than a decade.

"I happened to get the two tickets! Pretty darn lucky," said Amy Ball of Seattle.

Josh Hopp waited outside all day and was disappointed.

"I can't get in at all. Still have high hopes for getting in but still nothing," he said.

Tickets went on sale for just minutes Friday. And you had to have some savvy online skills to get them.

"I just kept refreshing my computer this morning trying to buy tickets and I got 'em," said Travis Johnson of Bremerton.

Tyrone Maldonaldo of Issaquah also got his tickets online.

"There was like 2 minutes on Ticketmaster to get tickets, and you had to get a special password," he said.

Many in line tonight were talking about the mid '80s to early '90s, with bands like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana, making Seattle the center of the universe for millions of grunge fans.

And before filing into the Showbox tonight, the nostalgia came seeping back.

"I saw some amazing shows back then, and it was great to be part of it and now it's like reliving our youth," said Lusk.

Fans who didn't get them to see them tonight can try again this summer. This August the band will perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago.
