SOUTH HILL, Wash. – A 16-year-old girl with a mental capacity of a child half her age was missing and police were asking for the public's help to locate her.

Patti Washburn was seen leaving her residence at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday and was found miles away in Puyallup after 9 p.m.

Police was concerned because Washburn is new to the area and does not know her way around. She also has no friends in the area.

South Hill is an amaznig area to live and just because a kid runs away does not make the community responsible or bad. It on the parents and im glad they found her. Theres no danger of south hill at night.

How dare you all speak ill of my beloved Puyallup! We have a Walmart! And South Hill Mall! And this great Fair (if you don't mind the shootings/stabbings). And we have more souped-up pickup trucks per capita in Pierce County! All you haters stay away!

You guys are MORONS - they knew what she might have been wearing, but she took a change of clothes. Thank God she was found. The family that this girl comes from is an upstanding family in the community. The central command of the investigation said they have never seen such support from a community because we all love and respect this family very much. AND for those of you that think South Hill is a "white trash ghetto" - you obviously have no clue. But that's fine with us - please continue thinking that because we want you to stay away as far as possible!!!

"whitetrashed" and "overthinker" how stupid and insensitive of you!!! Obviously you must not have children of your own, obviously you must not know the parents and family, obviously you do not know this neighborhood and area as well as you profess to know!!!! It sounds like you are the ones that are not really "bright" and are truly "white trash". Those that care, have prayed & looked and given support to a family in crisis, not criticize them from afar. We are all overwhelmed with gratitude that she was found ok and give thanks to God and to all the many, many people that responded immediately to help. Even though your words were cruel and unfair, I pray for you, you obviously need it!

Hello everyone, I think we should all be thankful that the girl is home safe and sound with her family. I just looked for her for hours. I don't think anyone should be downgrading the caregivers. If you could have heard the women's voice when i called every few hours to see if she was home yet it would have put a knot in your stomach, the first thing the women said to me was did you find her. Unless you have an autistic child or have been around them you don't know what they are capable of doing. And south hill is not that bad it has it's bad along with the good just like any town. Thank you and I hope you all can just be thankful that a little girl is home safe with her family and not dead somewhere. Alexia

Until you know the whole story and are not just going off of this article says you can keep your little assumptions about the family to yourself and shut up.

South Hill is a very unsafe place at night. I'm very worried about Patti and her safety. I do know though, that she is NOT new to the area. I think that she left home for a reason...think about it. I mean her care takers don't even know where she went. There has to be a clear reason why she left. And her care takers are the only ones to blame. ....Not knowing what she was wearing. Not keeping an eye on your mental child. That has to be embarrassing.

yeah, it's nice that they gave a completely inventory of what she *could* be wearing. her caretakers sound really bright.

southhell is not the place to be lost with a mental capacity of 8. The fact that the parents dont even know how the child was dressed just shows the lack of attention they should have had for this kid. I hope she is ok but southhill is the whitetrash ghetto
