The Evergreen Point Floating bridge is closed this weekend - from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

Crews will close both directions of SR 520 and all connected ramps between Montlake Boulevard in Seattle and Interstate 405 in Bellevue. Drivers will need to take I-90 or find alternate routes around Lake Washington. SR 520 will remain open between I-5 and Montlake Boulevard and east of I-405.

During the closure, crews will install two overhead sign structures wide enough to accommodate the highway when it’s widened to six lanes.

Crews will also splice together new fiber optic lines to support the WSODT's Intelligent Transportation Systems. While crews are connecting the lines, much of the Seattle area traffic flow map will be off-line starting as soon as 8 p.m. Friday until early morning Saturday.

The DOT says crews are taking advantage of the full highway closure to tackle other critical work that can only happen while the road is closed.

Crews will close both directions of SR 520 and all connected ramps between Montlake Boulevard in Seattle and Interstate 405 in Bellevue from 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, to 5 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3. Drivers will need to take I-90 or find alternate routes around Lake Washington. SR 520 will remain open between I-5 and Montlake Boulevard and east of I-405.

During previous SR 520 closures, the longest delays on I-90 occurred in the afternoon. To help keep traffic moving, WSDOT is adjusting the reversible I-90 express lanes schedule.

•   Saturday, Feb. 2: I-90 express lanes will be open to westbound traffic from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Express lanes will open to eastbound traffic by 3 p.m.

Night work is planned, so residents near the work zone might hear construction noise.
