A female runner was seriously injured Sunday morning when she was hit by a car as she jogged on the Burke-Gilman trail.
The accident occurred shortly after 9 am in the crosswalk at NE 65th Street and the Burke-Gilman Trail.
The 45-year-old runner sustained several fractures and a head injury, and was taken to Harborview Medical Center by Seattle Fire Department Medics.
Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded and began an investigation. The driver of the car was evaluated for any signs of impairment, but none were detected.
The investigation is ongoing.
