PERUGIA, Italy -- Amanda Knox and her family have been repeatedly described how tough life in prison has been. Despite the difficulties, new pictures show some brief moments of escape.
ANSA reported that Knox was among the inmates singing and dancing as an Italian band called Hot recently performed at Capanne prison in Perugia.
The pictures show Knox dancing and listening to the rock band's prison performance. Band members say it's one of the few times inmates can actually enjoy themselves.
"Everyone inside the jail needs moments like this," said Leo Ariel, band leader. "They need to escape their situations, their nightmares, their states of mind. So they are all having fun with our songs, they're all singing our songs."
Band members say they've even become friends with Amanda Knox and are collaborating with her on an upcoming music video.
Knox, who insists she is innocent, is appealing her conviction and 26-year sentence for the 2007 slaying of British roommate Meredith Kercher. Final arguments in the appeals trial will begin soon.
