RENTON, Wash. -- A man was critically wounded by three men who broke into his home early Friday near Renton.

The shooting happened at a mobile home on 196th Avenue SE and SE 184th Street, between Renton and Maple Valley.

The King County sheriff's office says a 27-year-old male resident was shot 6-7 times but is expected to survive after surgery at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

"Apparently he was in bed. His roommate was asleep on the couch in the living room," said Marcus Williams, King County sheriff's office. "When heard the commotion, he walked down the hallway. As he walked into the living room, he was shot."

The three intruders fled. A woman in the home was not hurt.

Detectives are still investigating the scene and looking for the three suspects. They do not believe it was a random crime, but they still need to talk to the victim.

I understand that given only a certain ammount of info from a source it is easy to draw conclusions but I know this man and knew about this 1st thing after it happened and it was not in a bad part of renton. And he is a good guy and I am glad it looks like he will make it.

I'm really annoyed with King 5 right now. On the 5 o'clock news they just said that a home in Renton was invaded and a man was shot and expected to survive. They never said if the suspects were still on the lose or caught or any more information. Very pathetic news reporting.

No one picks a mobile home occupied by "roommates" as a target out of the clear blue sky. It's not like they're after the art collection....They were targeted for a reason, most certainly chemical in nature....

KCSO has 2-3 patrol officers out for this whole area from Black Diamond to Renton, not enough but like everyone says in these types of comments that the cops don't have anything better to do but when needed they're too late... nobody is ever happy anymore.

lets repeat what every body said......2nd amendment people... not only do i cherish it, i follow it. even though you can open carry in this state, i choose not to freak out the hippies, and have a concealed permit. it is easy people. i have filled out job applications that are longer. it is a front and back of the same page application. it costed me something like $55.00. they finger print you, the modern scanning procedure. then they give you a complimentary gun lock and a book on washington state gun laws. of course you do not need that for "home" protection. if you want to buy a gun and have never shot one or been properly trained on how to shoot one, go to an indoor gun range where they rent guns to shoot and have a pro show and teach you safety. in my 32yrs of life, there has been close calls to guns going off without intention of them doing so. always treat a unloaded gun like a loaded gun. never walk in front of a barrel or point a gun loaded or not in the direction of someone.

Skippy...196th is the road right below Fairwood that connects Petrovitsky and Maple Valley Hwy. It is wooded and a mixed residential area...high end homes on 5 acre lots and older established middle class neighborhoods. Very little drug or other criminal activity, good schools, etc. Very unusual for this area.

My wife passed the police on her way to work...this happened just down the street from us. She called and asked me what happened and I told her and she finally "gets" why we keep locked and loaded for situations just like this. I'll bet she'll join me at the range now! Note the police are there AFTER the man was shot 6 - 7 times...no disrespect to police, it's just to point out it's My job, YOUR job to protect your family...it's theirs to figure out what happened afterward. Remember this when Washington (Seattle) legislators attempt to ban your 2nd Amendment rights.

If it had been my house. three people would have been critically wounded and I would have needed more 230 grain Hydrashoks for my Kimber. (Sorry, every article like this needs a solid gun comment). Sounds a bit suspicious though...as if this was more than a simple burglary...I'm sorry, home invasion, or whatever we call burglary these days...Should we rename it housejacking then, or should we rename carjacking a car invasion? Oh, no, wait. A car invasion is what happens in downtown Seattle after a weekday afternoon Mariners game...

I just wish they would give the correct cross streets when talking about this story. It is not 196th and 185th if you listen to them you will be at the opposite side of 196th from where it has happened. However I am glad they are mis-reporting this as it will hopefully keep gawkers away.

Yet another example of why guns must remain available to private citizens. Self-defense: a true human right.

I love how they completely revamp the story making a 10 minute old comment completely obsolete.....
