SEATTLE - The Wilson Pacific Campus in North Seattle went into lockdown shortly before noon Thursday after eyewitnesses told police two armed robbers ran onto campus.
School Spokesperson David Tucker says the school went into lockdown after Seattle police advised them to keep students inside while they searched for two teenager robbers.
It all started at 11 a.m. at the Union 76 Gas Station at 85th and Aurora Avenue. The store clerk says a teenager walked into with a gun in his hand and demanded all of the money. According to the clerk, the teen robber then ordered the clerk and a customer to the floor. A second teenager was acting as a lookout says the clerk.
Unable to get any cash, the robber then stole some candy bars and took off running according to the clerk.
Eyewitnesses told police the teenagers ran up toward the Wilson Pacific campus located at 94th and Interlake. The campus houses a number of school programs including a Native American school, a Home Studies program and a re-entry program for junior high and high school students.
The school went into lockdown while the police searched room for room for the suspects.
A sergeant at the scene says two teenagers were taken into custody.
According to police, one teenager was arrested outside of the school and the second was arrested inside a junior high class.
The sergeant says both suspects were students on the campus.
Officers say the gun has not been recovered.
Police spokesperson Rene Witt say both students were arrested for investigation of robbery.
About two hours later, at around 1 p.m., the lockdown was lifted and students were allowed to leave the campus.
There is no word yet on what charges these students will face.
