The Washington State Patrol have a possible suspect in custody in a fatal hit-and-run on Highway 300 in Mason County.

Initial reports said the incident occurred in Kitsap County.

The body of a 60-year-old Tahuya man was found on the shoulder of the road early Saturday morning.

A passerby discovered the body near Gladwin Beach Road at about 7:30 a.m. The highway was closed in both directions for the investigation.

"It's possible he was out there all night,” said Winger.

A 21-year-old Tahuya man was being held for investigation of felony hit and run.
