BREMERTON, Wash. - Investigators say a woman found dead in a burned mobile home in East Bremerton was the victim of a homicide.
They believe the homeowner was dead before the fire started Saturday.
The Kitsap County Fire Marshal's Office said the fire started in the bedroom of the home.
Firefighters from Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue and Bremerton Fire Department responded to a 911 call reporting flames shooting out of the single-wide mobile home around 6:10 a.m. Crews arrived to find the home completely engulfed in flames.
The closest fire hydrant required firefighters to lay over 800 feet of hose down a steep drive to reach the home.
Authorities have not released the name of the victim, but neighbors tell the Kitsap County Herald it is Paymela Faye, a local country musician.
Fay fronted the county ensemble the "Whatta Band" for several years.

I have spoken to the person who lived in that mobile home. I lived three homes down, and he tried to steal my cats. He honestly lured them there with food. (Cause we had outside cats, so they could come and go.) He tried to pay me off for my cats.

I am in shock...my late husband, Ron Alan was the drummer with Whattaband for 5 years and I was one of the original "Whattawife's". So many wonderful memories with Pam, I am so saddened. She is Home now. Umma Tuk
