Officer-Involved Shooting in Seattle Sends One Man to Hospital

SEATTLE - Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood.
Overnight Seattke police responded to multiple fights. Gang Unit detectives were also working an emphasis patrol in the Belltown area when they observed two men in fight at 1st Avenue and Blanchard Street around 1:30 a.m.
One of the men show detectives a handgun then took off running with the gun in his hand. The detectives gave chase and shot the suspect, striking him at least once in the backside. The suspect continued running northbound in the 2200 block of 2nd Avenue and ducked into a parking lot. Detectives located the suspect, a man in his 20′s, hiding underneath a parked car. Medics took the suspect to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, where he remains under guard.
No civilians or officers were hurt. Investigators believe this incident does not involve the NFC Championship game or anyone wearing football jerseys.
