STAR, N.C. --  Three people are dead after an employee went on a shooting rampage inside a lumber company in Montgomery County on Friday morning.

According to WXII-TV, a man walked into the McBride Lumber Company on McBride Lumber Road in Star and shot four people inside a warehouse before going to his home and shooting himself.

Three of the four people he shot are dead, and the fourth victim has been airlifted to a nearby hospital.  The shooter has also been airlifted to a hospital after deputies found him inside his home.

Deputies say they responded to the incident happened just after 6 a.m.

According to its website, McBride Lumber has been in business since the 1950's and is a second-generation family owned business.  They are located about 60 miles south of Greensboro

Authorities haven't released the names of the victims.

Sheriff Dempsey Owens says the shooter left a note, but he didn't give details of the content. He said witnesses reported the gunman was a disgruntled employee.

A person who answered the phone at the business said they had no comment.

But one of the company's founder's, Dorothy McBride, said she was shocked.

"Oh, my God, I can't believe it," she said. "I just can't talk about it right now. I have to find out more."

A family owned business, the company makes pallets and treated wood for furniture and other products.
