The mother of a Lynnwood man imprisoned in North Korea has just arrived in the country to visit her son.
Myunghee Bae says the goal of her five-day trip is to encourage her son, Kenneth Bae, who's said to be in poor health. He's been detained since last November for committing so-called "hostile acts." In April, he was sentenced to 15 years hard labor.
Bae's mother said she is grateful to North Korea for allowing the visit. She says she doesn't know what to expect from the trip; she just wants to see her son with her own eyes.
A video statement by Myunghee has been posted on YouTube and the website FreeKenNow.com.
