CHEHALIS, Wash. -  A man who ran over a Mossyrock gas station clerk was found not guilty by reason of insanity at his murder trial in Chehalis.

Lewis County Superior Court Judge Jim Lawler ordered John David Angeline to Western State Hospital on Tuesday for an undetermined stay.

The 41-year-old Lakewood man killed the owner of the Flying K market, 53-year-old Soon Yang, last April when she ran in front of his pickup as he tried to drive away from a $34 gas bill.

KITI reports Angeline has a 20-year history of mental illness. The day before the fatality he was trying to break into a Mossyrock business so he could speak with David the archangel.

After running over Yang, Angeline told police he thought she was trying to cast a spell on him.

A mentally insane person with a pickup!? what is he doing with a vehicle!? I hope that with his history he didn't have a driver's license when he ran the girl over, and is now suspended for doing so... Oh man.. I don't understand... They talk about not letting people out on these television shows because they are scared for the community and what not, but now we got some insane person who tried breaking into a convenience stored looking for some spirit, has a 20-yr history of mental illness, and killed a woman running over her, because she was going to cast a spell on him, AND he's got a pickup!? What is wrong with this picture?? I'd be more afraid of a man with a mental illness that has sick thoughts running through his head, than half of these people they are holding onto in these jails. I don't get it...

The guy sound insane to me. Example: People in Tacoma could easily go insane because dogs constantly barking for 10 hours a day and the police and mayors office will not do anything whatsoever. So it's understandable how people can go insane and shoot police officers and do anything else irrational. In Washington there is no justice in the justice system and people simply go insane and commit crime. The court system is useless and the police and mayors office is even more useless.

Sounds like BS . Mentally insane but able to hold a license for a weapon like an automobile.

Why we waste our time warehousing these clearly violent and mentaly dark people is beyond me. We need to put them down. They offer our society nothing more than further anguish and pain. I'm not talking about those who are slow or challenged but still have good hearts, I am talking about those with a history of violent acts resulting in death or severe anti-social injury to another. On medication or not.

Hmm, can't help but wonder why he wasn't in jail for breaking and entering and clearly being insane? Seems to me like we have reason to believe he might be a danger to his community, I hope his lawyer and the lenient judge feel really good about their decisions... I'm also glad to see he's insane, so we can rest assured that he will not have to pay for his crime, a couple of years in the Hospital, surely with field trips to local county fairs, followed be release, followed by giving up his meds, followed by ??? THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!
