"Justice Now" event and march, Garfield High - Seattle
The "Justice Now! Healthcare, Housing, Jobs & Education" event is geared toward youth. The Millionair club charity honors Diversity - Seattle
The Millionair Club will hold its first annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration with all members of the Seattle community, including guest speaker Congressman Jim McDermott. The itinerary includes a traditional West African storytelling dance performance by Ocheami, followed by a buffet-style breakfast sponsored by Schwan’s Home Service of Auburn. The keynote speaker for the celebration will be James D. Bible, President of the Seattle King County NAACP. 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., The Millionair Club Charity dining room, 2515 Western Ave. Free. MLK Day of Service park project - Kirkland
Volunteers will remove invasive plants from Cotton Hill Park, 110th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 98th Street, Kirkland; snacks, beverages, and some tools provided; bring lunch, gloves, clippers and boots for muddy conditions. What's open, what's closed
• Most schools and government offices will be closed, but many businesses will be open.
• Metro buses will be operating on a reduced weekday schedule.
• Everett Transit and Pierce Transit will be on regular weekday schedules.
• Snohomish County's Community Transit local buses and most commuter weekday service will be on regular schedules, but some commuter trips will be reduced or canceled.
• Sound Transit will be on holiday schedule. Sound Transit Express buses and Tacoma Link rail trains will be on regular weekday schedules.
• State ferries will be on regular weekday schedules.
• Most banks and credit unions will be closed.
• Post offices will be closed.
• Public libraries will be closed.
• Most state-owned liquor stores will be open.
