CHEHALIS, Wash. -- The ruling by the Lewis County corner that a former state trooper committed suicide was inaccurate and "arbitrary and capricious," a jury has concluded.
A Lewis County jury returned that decision on Tuesday regarding the death of Ronda Reynolds, The Daily News of Longview reports.
She was found shot in the head by her husband at their home in Toledo in 1998. Her mother Barbara Thompson filed the lawsuit because she believes her daughter's death was a homicide. She hoped the jury would overrule the coroner.
Corner Terry Wilson ruled the death suicide, but Thompson's team brought an array of witnesses to dispute Wilson's finding.
After the 12-member jury reached an unanimous verdict Tuesday, Wilson said "no," when asked if he would reconsider the cause of death on Reynolds' death certificate.
