SEATTLE - The Missile Defense Agency's Sea-Based X-band Radar (SBX) vessel on Tuesday entered the Strait of Juan de Fuca on its way to Vigor Shipyard Seattle (formerly Todd Pacific Shipyards).
The SBX is visiting the shipyard for maintenance and upgrades. This work will begin in mid-May and will take about three months to complete.
The vessel was seen from various points as it made its way through Puget Sound to Elliott Bay, arriving late Tuesday night.
The SBX Radar is one of the sensors for the nation's missile defense system.
