SEATTLE - The Missile Defense Agency's Sea-Based X-band Radar (SBX) vessel on Tuesday entered the Strait of Juan de Fuca on its way to Vigor Shipyard Seattle (formerly Todd Pacific Shipyards).

The SBX is visiting the shipyard for maintenance and upgrades. This work will begin in mid-May and will take about three months to complete.

The vessel was seen from various points as it made its way through Puget Sound to Elliott Bay, arriving late Tuesday night.

The SBX Radar is one of the sensors for the nation's missile defense system.

freemonttroll (NOT spelled freedom-anything)- I have the SAME opinion about some 2 trillion in nuclear weaponry, submarines and global satellite positioning guidance systems. But regardless whether WE believe something, enuff ppl DO to PAY for it all. =I= still paid taxes for weapons that never got used (and never will), I paid taxes to support 3rd-World dictatorships in the name of "freedom" (which, BTW, is as inconceivable as our paying some religious nuts to overthrow a regime we disliked, yeah?.) and =I= still paid taxes that allowed a coke-dealing frat boy to operate multi-million dollar war machines. Yeah, our government is SUCH bumbling idiots that they just stumbled into a way for a few select ppl (all coincidentally linked to major military-industrial corporate welfare giants) to profit at EVERYONE'S expense - yeah, it was just a coincidence. Can't wait for the next convenient coincidence (no, Libya won't work, too easy

ThinkSmart - With all due respect, I've given up on 'conspiracy theories' - I've waisted too much time researching, debating, and thinking about these types of outlandish things. I used to get so worked up about stupid theories, like Moon Landing, 9/11, NWO, NAU etc. I found that it was an unhealthy way for me to live. So now I live in ignorant bliss. The mind is a powerful tool, as long as you believe everything is alright, it will be. I use logic now, which is also a powerful tool. So rather than Googling something, all I have to do is think, 'Do I really think that a dysfunctional government, who currently can't even balance their budget, build a secret weapon that causes earthquakes?' The answer is no, I really don't believe they can, I don't believe anyone can, so the way I see it, I just saved myself several hours of research... Now I can go back to doing meaningful things.

Whatever this thing is,, a ginormous microwave to heat the worlds largest bag of popcorn or and earthquake machine from the depths of Twilight Zone,,, I'm sure we can all agree it ( I ) cost us too much money (which is equal to our time spent working for the government) and 2,,, it probably doesn't work like it was supposed to and C. We didn't need it in the first place but some fat senator got it earmarked because they built it in his state.

I worked on the Observation Island before she was scrapped. It had the Cobra Judy AN/SPQ-11 S-band system on board, forerunner of the X-band. Whoever thinks these systems are capable of weather modification should stand in front of one of those antenna's for 15 seconds while they are on and then tell me that again...

"Weather modification has been going on for decades. "cloud seeding" has been the typical way most people understand it. They used/use silver iodide to get the clouds to release rain. They have been doing this for almost 70 years." Everything in that statement is true, 100%, but as far as I can research, it is the only type of weather modification. Everyone has to remember there has to be a cloud to seed though........... we don't manufacture clouds. By the way, I am still missing the part where earthquakes have anything to do with the weather......... Care to elaborate on that one? By the way, where do you get your information, if not from the internet (you did tell us to Google it) then from where? I want the publication that will back up your story......... give me that, I will run right down to the library tomorrow, read it, and will then appologize and concede, which at that point I imagine everyone else will concede as well. Show me the proof.

The SBX-1 has nothing to do with weather modification!

@freedomfrank-- I guess I am surprised by your first sentence based on things I have read from you in the past, but I am glad for it. Weather modification has been going on for decades. "cloud seeding" has been the typical way most people understand it. They used/use silver iodide to get the clouds to release rain. They have been doing this for almost 70 years. As for reasons to use it as a weapon, surely you could come up with plenty all by yourself. Wikipedia has a good article about it, but there are many others. There are also some amazing videos of how scientists have been able to change atmospheric conditions by the introduction of electrical radio waves. This is NOT conspiracy theory stuff, any more than using a microwave oven to heat your food is. It is basic science. I get so tired of people pulling out that phrase as if it were a trump card. I am baffled at why people keep doing that. I think it is simply an excuse to keep their brain turned off.

Mr. thinksmart, You are not thinking very smart. I am a merchant sailor who has worked on the SBX-1. It is NOT a HAARP. It is just what they say it is a Sea-Based X-band radar. It is just a big radar platform on the ocean.

nwdude83- I will never own a brainwash device like TV. People have little knowledge as to how much it is used to create a group think mindset. As for the Core on TNT you mentioned... never even heard of it. This ULF (ultra low frequency) 'radar' has no standard application to radar. It does not improve or detect better than current radars. I worked on ground based standard planar phased arrays (ground radar) while in the good ol USMC and I can say that though they are housed in similar structures to reduce corrosion that is where the similarities end. fremonttroll-- no point in actually looking into things aye? Intellectual suicide? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to claim the intellectual or moral high ground or claim I got it all figured out. I am simply saying that things are not what they appear and that there is plenty of reason to be concerned. But, of course, people don't want to hear things that might challenge their world view. That scares me..

Well, Thinksmart DID say people with PhD said so... Just like Homeland Security IT Chief Dr. Laura Callahan, who lied and did not have a PhD (not even close). or Joseph Cafasso, decorated war vet who was a terrorist expert... but wasn't even in the military? Yeah, he lied too. The list goes on and on of high ranking officials who claim to have PhD's... I can get one too you know, they cost about $50 online. Google THAT.

Well thinksmart it does sound a bit far fetched that we,,, humble little creatures of the earth could invent a weapon that could cause earthquakes. My first question is why? Why would we? Its not like we don't already have enough weapons of mass destruction at our fingertips. As for changing weather patterns,, gotta go with mother nature on this one. Unless we build thousands of these things I don't think we are gonna produce a drop of rain outta this thing.

lotsofsparepart---You're just soooooo smart!!!! Gee whiz......... 5 minutes on Google and you confirmed it aye? Give that man (or woman) an honorary Ph D. Shoot on sight? Really? I am wondering what sort of psycho person could be so intolerable as to see this as the necessary course of action? To follow your 'just, fair and tolerant' mindset through, someone would have to shoot you the moment that you said something that others did not agree with or were offended by. Seems like the world has know a few folks like that in the past. People that cannot control their emotions and resort to childish statements of violence and or personal defamation, merely show that though they are older physically, they never did grow up mentally/emotionally. Please do your age some justice and act like an adult.

@otsofspareparts, if you read it on the internet, it must be true! .................................................................................................................................... Now I'm not proposing the spectacularized stories about HAARP are 100% accurate, but, I am fairly certain there is more to that "ULF" array than some people may think.

" Weather modification as a weapon is a reality", After reading that entire post, I am still having trouble reading that part where earthquakes are regarded as a phenomenon of Weather. Never once have I turned on the TV to King5 and heard the words "Slight chance of earthquakes today, especially north between the Snohomish and Skagit county line where we are expecting the convergence zone to set up, you should watch out for potentially destructive earthquakes in that area" Earthquakes have nothing to do with the weather, thay have to do with Tectonic plates, which are pieces of the planet that like to move around a little bit every now and then, but I doubt you learned about those in Conspiracy Theory School, which I imagine is where you may have been Valedictorian. And he says the rest of the educated people posting are clueless? Get a life thinkstupid, cause nothing you are saying is smart.

Oh, and by the way, I did google the" HAARP Machine", and guess what the picture was of on the website? It was a picture of a ULF Antenna Array in north Alaska. ULF (Ultra Low Frequency) Arrays are they way we communicated with our submarines during the cold war. They are presently maintained, and used for unclassified surface to sea communication to this day. Do your research... moron.

I never cease to be amazed at how clueless people are. Especially those who responded to my earlier comment. Does not anyone have any idea what is going on? Very credible people who are experts in their fields, with masters and Ph d's have pointed out these things and more. Since when does the phrase "conspiracy theory" serve as a trump card to anything they can't/won't understand? People watch too much TV! It think the rally cry of ignorance in our generation is "Don't confuse me with the facts, I already have my mind made up." Weather modification as a weapon is a reality. Our own government admits as much. It is sad to think that people could be so willfully blind and ignorant.

Most responsible for causing the earthquake and tsunami that recently destroyed so much of Japan. That ranks in the top 5 most idiotic things I have ever heard a person mumble in my entire life. Hmmm...... lets think about that. We live on a planet...... that circles a star...... that has been here for 5 billion years...... that has gone through more changes, earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, tsunamis, than anyone can actually fathom, and you have the audacity to say that something we created could have caused the eartquake that leveled Japan. I am actually having trouble coming up with any more of a response to that statement because I am having a really hard time wrapping my mind around it. That is Conspiracy Theory at its most profound... I propose we have a law that shoots people on sight who have ideas like that, because the world would be a better place after the fact. It upsets me deeply that I live in a world that has people who think this way.

Clearly you're mistaken thinksmart. The earthquake and tsunami in Japan were caused by the same thing that caused the earthquake that leveled Haiti - women getting above themselves and people selling their souls to the devil to overthrow foreign aggressors. This must be the ship that causes earthquakes in Afghanistan before we send bombers in.

What they conveniently forgot to state is that it is a HAARP machine. Google it and check it out. This is the 'radar' most likely responsible for causing the earthquake and tsunami that recently destroyed so much of Japan. Somebody ought to torpedo that thing and let it sink to the bottom of the ocean.
