The King County Health Department is scrambling to find out what is making so many students sick at an Auburn elementary school.

The Health Department confirmed Tuesday that administrators at Alpac Elementary in Pacific alerted their communicable disease department.

While there is no confirmation on exact numbers, the number of cases of what's being described as flu-like symptoms has raised concern.

At this point the medical team is in an investigation mode, trying to figure out what is going around.

Although it would be very early in the flu season to see a significant outbreak, nothing has been ruled out.

One parent who contacted KING 5 News said the principal made an announcement advising sick students to stay home.

Health department spokesman James Appa said the move was prudent and the school is making some good choices in handling the situation.
