TACOMA, Wash. -- Pierce County authorities responded to a hazmat situation at a Washington State Patrol office in Tacoma.
State patrol said someone left a liquid substance at a trooper's residence Tuesday morning.
"(The trooper) walked out to his patrol car and realized some sort of liquid substance had been dumped on his patrol car," said Guy Gill, Washington State Patrol spokesman.
The trooper found the bottle where the substance came from next to his car. The trooper placed the bottle in a plastic bag, then brought it and the patrol car to the Washington State Patrol Office on 112th Street East in Tacoma.
"It's like a white, milky substance is the best way I can describe it. We're not sure what it is," said Gill. "These things are in place now to make sure if it is hazardous, no one gets exposed to it."
The trooper was taken to a hospital to be checked out as a precaution.
Gill said it could take several days before they receive tests back which will determine what the substance is.
Gill said there is no risk to the public and no reason for evacuations.
