SEATTLE -- The federal government wants to make sure the alleged "Barefoot Bandit" doesn't profit from his story.

A new grand jury indictment includes language that would make it impossible for Colton Harris-Moore to sell his story.

The 20-year-old was arrested in the Bahamas back in July for more than a dozen burglaries in Washington and Nebraska.

The Camano Island man gained an internet following during his two years on the run from authorities.

Apparently in hebeshe's world, name calling, insults and hate, with low input of facts defines her world of "credibility".. sad.

Sir unreal You make no sense, you have no credibility, you seriously sound like you're smokin dope, speaking of the Bible, the banking industry, the housing market. Look put the pipe down and you sound more immature than I originally accused you of.

His story should be not just told but sold you bet. He should be required to give 100% of what comes in for the story- to those who he stole from, robbed, took from -including paying the Police agencys, and the Feds flight to the Bahama islands to get him- and pay for his nice little flight home from Florida. After all that is paid for in full- he should then be forced to use the cash in educational films, and or public appearances ( after he is released from Jail ) to educate kids about not doing what he did. That said, he would never see a dime of it. The story is just that, a story. Those whom he hurt- are people like you and me. He should pay dearly for what he did. so yes Sell his story-so that little cotton picker can " feel what it is like to be rich"- then "feel the pain" when he has to release it to his victoms. OUCH ..

Colton Harris-Moore is no better than those who think they can make a living out of robbing banks or grocery stores. Those people are terrorists, though they no doubt would never consider themselves to be such. Asked why they do it, they could give you all kinds of what would be in their opinion, good reasons. But the terrorists who flew planes into the Twin Towers could have given all kinds of good reasons. Anyone going around damaging or stealing other peoples property or terrorizing others has got no right to be allowed to profit in any manner from such actions. Furthermore, Colton Harris-Moore is no genius. A person doesn't have to be a genius to get a plane off the ground and fly it in the air. One doesn't even have to be a genius to land without crashing. (But it might help, on the landing part.) Colton never flew a plane that he didn't wreck. Not so genius. He only got away with crime as long as he did, because he kept getting lucky. Luck kept him alive, not genius

Those two items aren't really comparable... Or at least they don't really make the point you're driving at.

hebeshe: "Just like others of the irresponsible generation you feel anyone should be able to do anything with no consequences." Hmmm so this kid, in this irresponsible generation, does $2million of damage and he about to do the time. Now the generation of 45's-70's year olds mess up our banking system, housing market, almost on the verge of collapse... and the Government bails them out, with the message oh try harder next time... Which generation is TRULY irresponsible?!

Sir Real...Colton has cost the taxpayer millions of dollars in federal and state taxes along with property taxes. He will cost us a few more million to house for 20 years. I would like to see him pay it back but letting him earn royalties is not the way. The convict would find ways to profit personally. Maybe his mother will help pay.... She is a proud lady. Maybe she will volunteer to serve some of Coltons time so he can get out early.

I agree with the feds. Why do we spend so much time glamorizing the convicts, when we should be reading books on heroes and brilliant people! If you do a crime, there should be NO way you can make any kind of money from it!

real you need to get real. Just like others of the irresponsible generation you feel anyone should be able to do anything with no consequences. If you were violated in this case as a victim you wouldn't have the same who cares attitude. I suspect that one day you will not be so willing to shrug off a crime with so many victims. This punk is a career thief and needs to remain in prison until a very old age. And by the way these victims were victimised not inconvenienced. And by the way you DO NOT sound enlightened like you intend only immature.

@Sir_real if this was a person convicted of raping and murdering children, who was then making a profit selling a book about their crimes, would you be singing a different tune? Laws apply universally, and there are laws that apply to this.

That's BS. It's intellectual property and not a crime committed.... sounds like censorship. If he's doing the time, then what happens what's he's made peace is his business. Feds need to stop wasting time being totalitarians and exercise the important laws available to make things right with those he's inconvenienced.
