FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – A 17-year-old suspect was shot once after trying to get away from Federal Way Police early Sunday.
Police say the teen-ager and another person were in a stolen Lincoln SUV. Police attempted to arrest him at the corner of 333rd Southwest and 24th Avenue Southwest.
When the driver saw police, he tried to get away and hit two police cars in the process.
"Once the vehicle took off he actually ended up ramming one of the Federal Way police cars, forced his way out of there where they were and took off down the street where he rammed another Federal Way police car," said Paul Cline, Renton Police Dept. Division Commander.
At that point, police fired into the vehicle. The 17-year-old was shot once in the arm. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center and is expected to recover.
Police say the teen has an extensive criminal history and is a convicted felon.
A search is on for the other person.
The Federal Way officers involved in the shooting were put on paid administrative leave, which is normal procedure.
