EVERETT, Wash. -- Everett police are looking for more victims of a man they say targeted elderly residents in south Snohomish County.

The call for assistance from the public comes on the same day that family and friends laid to rest 91-year-old Harold Caywood.  The Silver Lake man died several weeks after he was punched during a robbery at a gas station near his home.

Everett police believe Patrick Hartness, 26, not only robbed Caywood, he also burglarized the homes of at least two other elderly victims in Mountlake Terrace.  Hartness was arrested shortly after he pulled a wad of cash out of Caywood’s hand, hit him and ran off, according to police.

At Purdy and Walters with Cassidy funeral home in Everett, family and friends remembered Caywood as a World War II veteran and gentle man who crafted homemade jewelry he passed out to friends.

Police said at one home, Hartness showed up posing as a repair man.  Officers would like to hear from others who may have had contact with him.

Police said anyone who may have information about Patrick Hartness that could be helpful to the investigation should call the Everett Police tipline at 425-257-8450.
