Two Seattle Police detectives were injured Friday morning in a car crash with a DUI driver.

The detectives were coming off the Alaskan Way Viaduct at Seneca Street after 2 a.m.

Police said a Volkswagen Beetle headed north on 1st Avenue t-boned the patrol car.

Both officers were put in neck braces and taken to Harborview Medical Center. They sustained only minor injuries.

"They were a little shaken, but they were able to call in the collision themselves," said Seattle Police Det. Mark Jamieson.

The 42-year-old female driver of the car was arrested for driving under the influence. She was not injured in the crash.

The detectives are members of the SPD Gang Unit. They were driving an unmarked patrol car.

Police closed the 1st and Seneca intersection for several hours to investigate.
