COVINGTON, Wash. – A couple heading into a Walmart Thursday night for an early start to Black Friday shopping was hit by an SUV driven by someone deputies suspect was under the influence.

It happened just after 8pm at the store located at 17432 Southeast 270th Place in Covington.

Sgt. Cindi West of the King County Sheriff's Department said that the woman was trapped underneath the vehicle and the man landed on the hood.

The 45-year-old woman is in serious condition with a pelvic injury. She was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The 40-year-old man was listed in good condition with a head injury at Harborview.

West said deputies suspect the 71-year-old driver of the vehicle had been drinking. He was been arrested for investigation of vehicular assault.
