OSO, Wash. -- Many heard of the Red Cross but there is another organization with a similar name that helps bring comfort to victims on an emotional level.
The Green Cross has three "comfort dogs" in Oso to help people open up about how they're feeling.
On Wednesday one of those dogs helped a woman.
"She came in. No one could reach her and she wasn't really making eye contact with anybody until she locked eyes on ‘Bungee,’ my chocolate lab, and she sat down with him and broke down finally and then we got her speaking to tell us what she needed and how we could help her get through that," said Mary Schoenfeldt from Green Cross.
Grief counselors and comfort dogs are also there for rescue workers and volunteers who spend long hours in the rain and mud, doing heartbreaking work.
